Hello. my newest welding project is buliding a rod oven. my problem that i am haveing is how to cut the pipe. the width of the pipe is 6 inch dia. i do not have a torch yet,but i do have big heavy duty 9 inch grinder. thanks for the help .and i will post lots of picks
Reply:Harbor Freight has a 4 1/2 " angle grinder on sale (with a coupon) for $9.99 and a ten pack of assorted disks for $10.00.   Use the 20% discount coupon and knock the cost of the disks down to $8.I may be criticised for telling you about Harbor Freight , but I have found their ten dollar grinder to be okay for my personal use.Standard safety warnings and precautions apply.I offer three choices: Good, Fast, & Cheap. Reply:they are both fillfreeze rods..tensile strength similar, 7018 is stronger in some areas..i thought the pen was the same for both...

Reply:if youre doing any kind of welding, at some point you're gonna need a torch.  I'd be interested in seeing what you use for a door, and also how you plan on insulating it.  You can buy a pipe wrap for less than 15 bucks at any LWS, much easier to use, and as with the torch, at some point you'll need it.In the field: '06 Ram 3500/Miller PP350    '14 F-350/Lincoln Classic 300DIn the shop: MM252, Hypertherm PM-85, White face MM200
Reply:Im also curious as to what element youd use..I do not do Code work either, but I want to save my 7018 in-between practice, and for storage on-site. Fresh hot rod burns oh so better overhead than cold "Ive been laying in this Job-Box for 3 weeks" rod...I paid 55.00 for my little 100w Phoenix portable 120v oven. 300 degrees, and holds 10lbs.Now if where burning 5/32, or any Code work, I'd shell out the bucks for a real oven....Lincoln Power MIG 210 MP ( boat anchor )Lincoln Weld-Pac 100 HDHobart IronMan 230Cutmaster 42Jackson NexGenSumner Ultra ClampsDWM120

Reply:Thanks for all of your help. Heres more info abought me, well as you alredy know that i am welder and i am also certified in stick and in flux core, And i went to school for it so i know how it all works but i have lots to learn. I also a a miller matic 252 that does all my welding, I also have grinders and some other things. And i cut the pipe with a friends chop saw it worked perfect and i still have my hands too. And to keep the rods warm i might put a 100 wat light bulb in the end of it ,Or maybe a heater light they use in chinken coops. thanks again
