7018 die hards, how about some 7028?

Anyone use 7028's anymore?   From what I've read, it's like 7024 (flat, horizontal only and pours out the metal), but is a low-hy rod with great impact qualities like 7018.  I guess it needs an oven to stay warm and cozy while it sleeps until going to work in the morning. Reply:A buddy of mine built these machines and used to run that rod. It throws a huge bead. I never ran it nor saw a reason too. He saud it was resistant to the constant boom flex. Reply:I did sub contract work years ago for Berkshire Bridge & Iron in  Dalton Mass. All they ran was 7014 & 7024,  every welding machine they had were Airco ac only. They put out some of the most beautiful welding I've seen.
Reply:I have ran it in 3-16 and 7-32 sizes before. Easier to run than 7018, if you have enough machine to run it it will put down a lot of metal. Its nothing to put down 50 plus pounds of weld in a day with that rod. Reply:Super Arc  The owner was an engineer who quit the General Electric and started his own business.  Berkshire Bridge & Iron was just a name he picked, not that he couldn't build a bridge. One of the smartest and nicest engineers I've ever worked with and I've worked with quit a few in my time.  I'm not sure about apprentice under my user name that's kind of insulting when I have over 50 years experience. That's one reason I don't post much, people think I don't know what I'm talking about

Reply:Buy Lincoln Excaliber 7028 runs fine Lo hy ,you mig guys should run my TM-500 with 1/4 " in the past they had 3/8 rods . AC is king with big rods we had over 100 Hollups and TM-500 AC single phase transformers building LCM 's for world war 2.
