Reply:SorryMy Welder is a Miller 175 MIG. I am using solid wire and gas (Steelmix). The material is A-36 3/8 plate and 2x2 tubing 3/16 walls.
Reply:Personally, I would probably go back to a 75/25 gas. The Steelmix is supposed to be for short and spray transfer but that's just my personal preference. Either that or get the basic C02 for even better penetration. Also - the 175 is really only rated for 5/16 with FCAW wire, I believe. Single pass 3/8'' might be tough for you, even cranked all the way up...with a MM175. What are your settings on the machine when welding this material?John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Wire speed 55Voltage 7.5The Plate is 3/8The tubing is 3/16 wallsIs complete penetration into the plate necessary?
Reply:No, complete penetrations just "cook" the metal. You just need good fusion .[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
