Anyone familiar with the arc quality on an old Hobart GPB 261?

It has the Jeep four cylinder and it purrs like a kitten getting a back rub.  It's huge, totally DC, and I'm going to try to use it in a couple of weeks for about three hundred foot of pipe fence, 40 welds.  Serial #12-CW-24630 Attached Imageslife is good
Reply:Some might find this interesting.  The reason I like welding so much is it empowers me to build what I need to build what I want.  The fence stretching equipment I designed and made.  The gate I made for a project many years ago and we finally decided to install it at the adopted son's place.  He likes the mountains.  We will add some stuff to it to make your socks refuse to stay on your feet, personal guarantee.  And yes, that is schedule forty 2" (2 3/8" O.D.) pipe bent just like I wanted. The old Legend welder makes 115 volts just fine but won't put anything out on the welding circuit.  So I finished up the gate install with a later model Blue Star, horrible arc to work with.  So if I don't get the Legend fixed in two weeks when we do the last side line I will borrow the Hobart which means I will probably want it more'n life itself, hate it when that happens.  But it is like me, big blue eyed old devil........
