Needed to make a cart for a little Lincoln 180.My intention was to keep it simple. Ya, that didn't last long once I started on the Solidworks model. Here is where I'm at as of now. Next step is to start on the tubing and finish mocking everything up to make sure it all fits. All the plate work is 11ga CRS, the round tubing will be 1" and the square is 1.25".All the plates were cut on my CNC plasma table then formed on my press brake. http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:How much to cut me a set, but make the bottle a 300cuf
Reply:It's really a text-book keep-it simple example that many of us can relate to. a thousand dollar cart, extremely well designed and executed... If you sell a few you might break even.  I like it thank's for sharing

Reply:Yep, pretty cool I like the design, looks great!....at some point, people are going to go back to just welding scraps together for carts right?? Then my carts won't have to hide in corners. Reply:That is gonna be pretty slick bud! I was shootin from the hip and freestyling a cart last year and wanted to do something different for the bottle holder as well. Just my dumb azz opinion bud, but it would probably make life easier if you put a hinge on the bottle holder so you only have to loosen two bolts. Reply:AWESOME for sure. I too was afraid to look. I think the Harbor Freight carts for migs are around $ 40.00. Let's see you have a $200.00 drawing, program machine maybe another $200.00, material $150.00, and just thinkin about it $500.00 so far. Plus you still gotta build it. Yea, that's gotta be a $2000.00 cart. You should put that in the Miller build it contest. Better yet, I would sell it to NASA so you can get your money out of it. Looking forward to the finish product.

Reply:Well, just the pieces looked cool tacked together - the welding work made it look even nicer. As usual, in your case, welding is actually decorative as much as it is functional. My 16 year old is learning to tig (from me) for a high school robotics competition - he looked and said "DAMN !!" He said "I can't do that...yet."  Youthful enthusiasm inspired by quality work instead of some rapper or pro-athlete.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Purty.  I think the HF carts are routinely on sale for $35.  Current web price says $50:http://www.harborfreight.com/100-lb-...art-61316.htmlI have my Lincoln MIG on one.  The Precison TIG got a custom cart, though.

After all, it is all about the children, right?Absolutely awesome starting with the drawing all the way to the welds.I would add about half a penny's worth of comment: I would cut a slot about 3/4" to 1" into the cable hangers on each side of the flat spot where the ground/lead cables rest and bend it downward about 30 deg to give the hanger a little bit of arch. Or maybe just add a small tab on either side of the flat spot. That way you won't have a hard edge that the ground/lead will rest on.

Reply:I never look at welding cart threads but when I seen "started by ZTFab", I had to look. Stunning as always. The sign of a master fabricator.

Reply:Fantastic as always ZTFab. I think it will take some nerve for the next guy to post their cart.A couple of dumb questions: the holes, are they just for looks or do they serve another purpose (maybe reduce weight)? Also, the lower tray, why is it hollow and not meshed or something, so that you could store something underneath?Last one, how steep is the learning curve on Solidworks?Telwin Force 165 InverterDewalt abrasive chop saw
Reply:Nice choice on the rear wheels!
Reply:Latzaman,I am not a welder by trade, only by hobby. I am in the Information Technology field and have access to all kinds of software in our 200 acre manufacturing facility. Solidworks takes a good while to learn to be able to produce a drawing as good as what ZTFab has done. And it is not at all cheap for the software license. But if you want to get your feet wet with a drawing and design program, download Google SketchUp for free and you can move on to the paid Pro version if it fits your needs. If you are leaning towards the more diverse programs such as SolidWorks or AutoCad, etc. then I would highly suggest an extension class at the local college. I did that to learn AutoCAD once upon a time. The training has served me well just interacting with all of the design engineers, drafters and our CNC programmers.
Reply:Paul, no offense meant by the HF talk, if any taken.I was looking at my MIG cart this morning and one feature I like on it is the two "junk" shelves under the shelf for the welder.  Handy for storing spools of wire, clamps, brushes, pliers, etc.  Although, it would be nice if they were mesh so they didn't collect dust/debris.
Reply:That looks great. Nice job.

Reply:That is a really cool cart. Designing and building is always fun and i agree with you on "why build it", because you darn well can. It will be stronger with more functionality.  You should be proud of your work as I am sure you are. I for sure am not at your level of fabrication or welding skills yet and most likely never will be but that still doesn't take the fun from any project i do. I'm for learning every thing i can. Reply:Originally Posted by ZTFabNone taken...I was just F'ing around. A HF cart would be perfectly fine for this welder and probably even better suited for the amount of use it will (or won't) be getting. Then why build it, you ask? Well, because I can!  I have about 1/4 million dollars worth of tools/equipment in my shop and I like to use them. I like to push myself and design/build things that are beyond the standard.
Reply:Thanks guys. Seriously, I feel that anyone can learn to fabricate like me. I am self taught and have always tried to push myself rather than just settle for OK. If I can get to where I from where I started with a 110v Lincoln and a chopsaw then anybody can. She's all welded up!
