I was at the scrap yard and they have a ton of stainless so I was going to get some 316 to play with but did not know how to identify it short of physical markings.Any secrets?
Reply:Nothing except a hand held XRF or Raman analyzer; but these aren't hobbyist equipment. ($$$) I've heard that some yards are using these little hand held units to check incoming material and sort scrap.
