I've had almost 10 years of trouble-free service out of my little Weld Pak 100.Last week it finally gave me reason to curse it..The wire wasn't burning the way it should for a few minutes, and then the machine quit feeding wire.  The motor checked out okay, as did the liner, etc....As it turns out, the voltage selector switch (A, B, C, D) is not coming into contact with the contacts that choose the proper voltage.  It almost looks like there used to be a nipple or something on the contact bar, because there is literally about 1/8" of voided space between the 2 metal plates.  I clamped them together with a vice grip and the machine works like a champ again.Does anyone know of a way to fix that contact bar? Thanks guys!
Reply:Fixed today....cut a small piece of copper off of an old tip, ground it to size of void, soldered it onto contact strip.Welding like a champ again!(the machine that is...not me )
Reply:Those are good little machines.  Yours has 4 taps?  I thought that was just the newer ones.  Mine has the infinite control.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:I've had one since all they made was it and a 220 V model. Never a minute's trouble. I made a conversion unit for ten pound wire spools on the lathe as soon as I bought it. I've been thinking about selling it and buying the 180C to be able to do more and have the continous control. I could buy the LN 25 wire feeder for my Ranger 250 but that is a lot of money for no more than I will use it.

Reply:Yes the 180C will basically be a toy. I've been thing about doing some metal sculpter to stay busy. Being retired can get pretty boring. I've developed some back problems in the last three months and lifting anything heavy looks like a thing of the past after the diagnosis I got yesterday. I've been thinking about some three dimensional stuff out of 14 and 16 ga. that won't be too hard to handle.
Reply:If you decide to get the 180C let me know as I can probably give you some ammo for David on the price. They come with the gas kit now and you can get the spool gun for about $170.00. I think the price on the 180C at the place I get my parts and repairs done at is $685.00. Kyle's is the 155 and is 220. With the gas kit it welds just as good as that 1000 amp Miller pulse mig I used at Rouly, minus all the oomph and the duty cycle. I got the LN-25 fixed and have been running the slat out of it, but a 180C can be had for less than the repair cost and the LN-25 would definitely be overkill and the one that gives really fine control is mucho dinero. The Eagle doesn't run the feeder well at all, but that GX271 does like a dream. In fact it puts any machine I have ever used in the dirt. Plasma cutter is next and we decided to go ahead and go with the big Lincoln. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Gotta see what Uncle and Big Bill do to me on taxes. Bill has to pay for that damn train  from Belin to Santa Fe. Don't thing I'll need the spool gun. Have to talk to David G. to see what gas will cost before I make up my mind.
