Tombstone AC/DC: Any mods to make this stick welder better?

Reply:I tend to agree on that. Don't think you could make it any better or they would have by now. Left alone with zero maintenance they run forever.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Thanks guys,  I was hoping of upgrading the dial for more selections.Guess it's on to making a better cart for it.Do have a 65' extension cord, that helps.
Reply:I've got the same welder, not much you can do except buy a different welder.What you see is what you get.Get some 6013 and get with it. Happy welding.Doing what I like

Reply:If it is used, then make sure all is tight and expose lugs , stinger and ground to fresh copper on the cables.Otherwise, have fun.
Reply:You can't change that because the taps come off of different places on the transformer. It's pretty much fixed. With that said I have two of them (both ac only) in my shop and for certain things they can't be beat. One was purchased specifically for one job and the old one I have was given to me. They see far more use than my synchrowave, and use less power doing it. Been many a project built with those things, and more than one welding business started with them..The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Thanks guys.   I bought it new, and have a Pipefitter brother that shakes his head at my welds, but they are getting better.gnewby, I'll start a new thread and let you know.  I plan on using two 10" rubber wheels, as it will be moved over grass.  Kinda like a dolly.  Current cart doesn't have enough spots to hang stuff, to include the extension cord.
