Hi all - I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for some advice with my Lincoln SP 250 mig welder. Its the only Mig welder I've used so I don't have enough experience on other machines to know if this is normal. But I expect it isn't. I've had it for several years and its always stuttered when you first start welding. Once a puddle is formed, it seems to weld OK, but the first couple seconds are pretty jumpy. And if you move the arc too fast out of the puddle, the stuttering starts again. This makes is especially hard to weld sheet metal and it seems to be getting worse. It's OK with 1/8" and up although sometimes I up the voltage setting and that makes things better. Any ideas? Could this have been a lemon machine from the start?
Reply:Turn the machine off , press the trigger and turn the machine back on. Wait a fw seconds till you hear a double click in the machine, release the trigger. Weld Away.
Reply:Cruizer - Thanks for the reply. I'll try this tomorrow. What does it do? Reset something in the machine's computer? Is it a common problem?
Reply:There are 2 modes in this machine, fast start and slow start. your in the factory position slowstart. |
