looking for a good Al tig machine

I literally burnt up my econo tig. Now, I'm looking for a reasonably priced machine that will handle 1/8" Al. Any ideas?
Reply:I'd suggest a Syncrowave 200 if you want to go new. The fact you burned up an Ecconotig would tend to make me suggest that you stay away from a machine like the Diversion's with it's limited duty cycle and inability to convert to a water cooled torch. I have no idea just what you did to cook the Eccontig, but my guess would be that you exceeded the duty cycle. If thats the case, you will want to get a machine with more top end amps so you get a better duty cycle in the 120-150 amp range. Used there are a ton of options. The Syncrowaves come to mind 1st. Then there are large older industrial  machines like Zap's Miller 330AB/P and so on that you usually can get fairly cheap..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:1/8" aluminum you have alot of choices..thermal arc 185, i've owned one for 6yrs, nice machine..thermal arc 200htp221lincoln precision tig 225miller syncrowave200miller dynasty 200dx i would probably hit craigslist and look for a good used syncrowave 250, just make sure you have enough electrical service to run it..whatever machine you decide on get a watercooled torch and cooler.Last edited by brucer; 07-25-2011 at 04:29 PM.tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
