Reply:I HAVE GOT SOME OLD 200 IN NOT MUCH BETTER SHAPE, THE MAIN GENERATOR COMMUTATOR LOOKS PRETTY BAD ID CHECK THE EXCITER ARMATURE ON A GROWLER TO SEE IF ITS GOOD, IF NOT THERE ABOUT 400 NEW AND 280 REWOUND ANYWAY FIX ALL THE WIRES YOU CAN. DOES IT RUN OR HAVE YOU TRIED TO START IT?
Reply:Make sure no open wires are touching frame ground, run her up. If you can't get any power at your auxillary, flash the exciter with a 12 volt battery running. I think its neg on the right side and positive on the left side. Its easy to reverse the fields by reversing neg and positive flashing in case I'm wrong. No worries there. Just hook up the neg and and momentarily touch the pos.If that doesn't work, you'll want to clean the exciter and generator comutators with a piece of comstone. or emery cloth of your desparate.
