hey everyone im interested in purchasing a Lincoln Tig 175 Welder. i was wondering what everyones opinion is of this machine. I just recently passed my AWS D1.1 Pipe test and i still have 2 more years of engineering school to go through so i want a good stick welder so i can use to keep my skills up to date. I also would like tig machine to play around with. Is this a good machine for me?
Reply:I bought a new one when they came out...and when it worked right, it welded nicely. It seemed to have problems with the AC auto balance. It would occasionally begin acting like I was welding on DC- with argon. Lincoln was no help in the situation at all. I sold the machine, scrounged up an additional $600, and bought a used Syncrowave 350 that was about 10 years old. It's never failed to do anything I wanted to do. |
