Ok, so I have a weldmark 225 cc/cv engine driven welder. It says right on the side of the machine that it is a product of lincoln electric. As near as i can tell it is identical to the ranger9. with one huge exception. It does not have the connection for a spool gun or built in contactor. My question is, I just purchased a MK Prince Spool gun and I want to run it off this machine. Can I do it and what do I need? The guy who sold me the gun said it is wored for a miller, and just needs to be rewired to run ANY cc/cv machine. I am thinking I need some brand of WC? controller. I know miller makes a WC-115A and MK makes a WC-15. but do I need one of these boxes or can I use something else. Honestly I am going to be really pissed if I need to spend more money just because someone lied to me and told me it would work, hopefully it willThanks, Tom
Reply:I talked to the guy again today and he is telling me that there is a part that is inside the gun or comes with the gun that is exactly like a WC-24. And all i need to do is hook it to my welding leads and away i go? Any thought????
Reply:Here are some pictures of the setup, I purchased it on ebay, great deal I think if its what it seems. I am thinking the silver barrel in the one pic is the thing that he says is like the WC-24. But dont I need a 24v power source to hook to that? Any help would be great...
Reply:Hey! The silver part in the pictures looks like some kind of home made adaptor There is a web site for MK products I would say you need a controller and external contactor You could skip the contactor but it would be Hot all the time look here for Factory recomendations http://mkprod.com/support/Manuals%20...or%20Guide.pdfThanks!
Reply:Thanks, I did come acrossed this site. I looked through just about everything I could find and as near as I can tell im gonna need what they call a WC-200. I dont really care about the contactor or the tip being hot, Im used to running the old LN-25 which were always hot. At least the one the outfit i worked for was. The guy who sold me the piece is 100% sure that I dont need anything extra, he says hes not an electrician, and I need to consult my local weld shop. But I am really thinking I need something. He also said, as I stated above, the grey box is exactly like a WC-24. But they are for machines that have a 24vac power source. Oh well, I guess i'll have to wait and see what it looks like and how it works. If it really does work I'll be quit happy cause I got it for a couple hundred bucks, good deal I think. Thanks for the info!
Reply:Ok, the verdict is in. The grey cylinder contained a WP-27. I added a 27vac transformer and a 110v plug and Im off and welding. this thing works great!!! What a deal... |
