My brother in law and his family brought dirt bikes over to go riding with us today. (Family reunion) And, I couldn't help but "critique" his new 6x12 he just got. I'm not gonna point fingers at the manufacture, but these are sad. The whole trailer was like this, even the wiring job was screwy. I offered to build him one, he wasn't amused. Reply:That's sad. One bad weld you could maybe accept but all of them? As long as people keep buying them, they'll still be sold.....Mike

Reply:looks like a "carry on trailer". TSC and some Lowes sell the open/utility trailers. Big Tex uses plastic caps also. You can not put all the blame on the "welders". These are made on an assembly line or rolling tables. The profit margin is incredibly thin on these things. Maybe 20 minutes extra time turns the single axle, angle frame trailers into a loss. The mesh is not even expanded and half the welds on the mesh do not make it to the frame. The press in plastic caps tell the story. They used to use round cut outs and put 2 welds on them. Too cheap now. I have worked at a company that felt $11-$12 an hour (2013) was all a welder was worth. Through a temp agency year round and no benefits. Bring your own hood, gloves, tape, pliers, coats....etc, etc. One temp agency even specified to bring your own 3M filters.Last edited by deafman; 07-05-2014 at 12:21 PM.

Reply:It's amazing how a brand new factory built trailer with bird crap welds can be registered to be pulled on the highways but where I live in PA you can even pass inspection with an exhaust leak on your vehicle.
