I am looking to get a 110/220v welder. This would only be used on thin material. a/c a plus, lift arc with pedal option as well would be cool. What are some of the ones out there? I was thinking maybe a Miller diversion. Or even a thermal dynamics 181. I have ZERO experience with these. It would be for instruction, and not for my own fabrication purposes. What are some dual voltage mig options? I like that I can just plug in an adapter on my hypertherm, and not have to switch any wiring around between 220/110'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems
Reply:Dual voltage AC/DC tigs that can still stick weld:Dynasty 200HTP Invertig 220 with DV optionLincoln Invertec 205 AC/DCMANY others if remove stick and AC from picture.  Problem is duty cycle on AC using 110V input.
Reply:A TA 181i is what I have, DC only and single voltage, I don't regret a dollar I spent on it.....Mike
Reply:if you can give up the a/c feature, I love miller's maxstar series. I have a 150stl on my worktruck, and tig all day with it. has remote option but did not come with pedal. I only lift-arc anyway. if I need to stick-weld some pipe, i'll switch it to a 220 plug and go to town. I personally don't care much for how it stick-welds, especially on 110v power, so if available I will nab a maxstar 200 and stick weld without issue.the 150 will trip breakers if your over 70amps and running on less than a 20amp circuit.bosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin
Reply:I think i've decided on a miller diversion 180.   Does anyone make a similar machine? I want dc w/light a/c capabilities. dual voltage, pedal is a big plus. stick isn't important'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems

Reply:How soon do you need the machine?  If you are in San Diego, a trip to out next Weld-o-rama would be a great idea.  There are usually a few machines that fit the bill there.  Dynasty, TA, the Everlast in my Sig.  Not sure if anyone has the TA181i. Someone might have the 186.  WelderWes has the longevity that is similar to the TA186 but I'll tell you privately why I don't recommend that brand...Last edited by soutthpaw; 04-22-2014 at 05:33 AM.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:Don't need it terribly soon. Just have future plans of expanding my mobile capabilities as well as scope of practice that the abililty to plug into 110 would greatly benefit. This isn't going to replace any of my current welders just adding to the fleet.  when and where is weld-o-rama?Last edited by sausage450r; 04-22-2014 at 08:26 PM.'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems
Reply:okay, after looking really hard at maxstars, i've decided to buy a 150stl or a 200sd. Will likely buy powersource only as i have everything else. So, if anyone has one, or knows of one, have cash in hand. there are none in my area, so I will give it a week, then i will by one from cyberweld.com'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems
Reply:Not to kick you in the sausage, but for a few bucks more you can get the new Synchrowave 210 that would make your sausage stand at attention LOL, I just got one a few months back and by far a badazz machine.I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys

Reply:Power is very limited on 115.Ask WillieB how he liked his diversion 180.HTP gets my vote....Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:only intending to do thin material with the 150, in talks for a 200sd right now @ 1k$ powersource only and beat up (gotta love california, everything costs more). HTP's are unobtainium right now (out of stock)and time is starting to be an issue, the low voltage ablility isn't as good as maxstar, wouldn't mind their 131, but its not dual input voltage...... as far as the off brands like longevity or eastwood, their torches and pedals aren't compatible with my huge stock pile of welding stuff I already have. When my dialarc gets replaced, I will probably replace it with an HTP, if I don't spring for a dynastyLast edited by sausage450r; 05-16-2014 at 02:30 AM.'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems

Reply:you can also look at the dweco/thermal arc 211i. its' duel voltage and puts out 210amps on all 3 processes I think.
Reply:Well if you want dual voltage and AC weld output, the most reasonable is the sync 210. It does stick as well. Weldermike is a pro and knows his stuff. If you want the best money can buy, get a Dynasty200dx, and a Hobart trek 180 for mig.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:only NEED what I NEED right now, which is lower amperage, DC tig, with dual input. 150stl by spec covers the bases best. when I spend dynasty money it will be a 280 or 350 to replace my dialarc. For now I can do everything I want to do with the dial arc HF @ home. There aren't alot of people with 220v in their homes for me to go mobile, so they will have to come to me anyway if it requires the amperage.'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems
Reply:Did ALOT of reading on the Thermal Arc 201ts last night. I'm starting to lean harder towards that vs the maxstars, price being the biggest factor 1k$ less than miller for 200 amps. I wish there was a place I could test these units side by side. My LWS is a thermal and miller dealer which would be nice for warranty purposes.'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems

Reply:are the thermal arc pedals any good? was just gonna buy it with the welder from cyberweld @ 179$'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems
Reply:The TD 201 is a nice little machine. IMO the maxstar 200 is more of a workhorse mainly due to the 60% duty cycle vs i believe 25% on the 201. That may not be worth the extra 800 or so to you. I would also suggest looking the ebay/craigslist route for a maxstar. Can save a few bucks for sure.

Reply:ordered a brand new Thermal arc 201ts package and additional foot pedal from cyberweld 1281$ shipped to my door! it will be in on friday. I will set it up alongside the syncrowave 250, dialarc 250HF, and tig weld some like materials, as well as min and max output tests  on 115v.  stay tuned. I will say Cyberweld was great. I ordered the unit at 6:30am PST and by 8:30am the same day they called and confirmed my order and shipped it the same day from their warehouse in AZ. The price was a huge plus, but to process and ship within 2 hours of placing order, they have earned all my brand new welder purchases in the future.'14 HTP invertig 221Thermal Arc 201ts'15 HTP 2400'13 Hypertherm Powermax 30Esab 875Esab 251Clark Metal Servicespecializing in stainless steel exhaust systems
