Reply:That looks just like the harbor frieght special for about $250 , they are also on craigslist all the time for about $100. You will need to shim and tweak it to make it cut decently.Lincoln pro mig 180Lincoln Square Wave Tig 300/wp 20/home built water cooler Victor, Purox, Harris, O/A welding/cutting setupsVintage Craftsman drill pressVintage Craftsman/Atlas 12"x 36'' lathe7''x 12'' w/c band saw Everlast 140 st

Reply:A little overkill no? Why not just get a regular bandsaw for less than $200 and put a metal blade in it.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Most 4X6 bansaws are made all in the same tywo plants, The differences are a little better fit and finish on the higher end units. I believe the manufacturer is Rong-Fu. Might wanna joint the 4X5 group on yahoo groups and see what it takes to get a super duper bandsaw instead of run of the mil garden variety. They are extremely helpfull and you can be cutting like a laser in no time at all. Just remember to consider the grizzlies, Jets and HF's a kit that needs assembly and tuning and you will be quite happy. Get rid of the OE blade and look at the higher quality 14-18 tooth variable pitch blades and you can cut just anout anything you desi8re. And a bonus is that Lowes and Home depot are even stocking a blade to fit if you have very bad luck on a piece of material. Hope this helps and look around for a 20% off coupon and catch it on sale for about 160.00 bucks, I did...BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Reply:Buy an old Doall or other American made saw made withing the last 50 yrs and you'll be ahead of the game.I bought an old Doall C4 years ago and it has been going strong as an ox ever since. I've cut 6" soild round for hours without issue.Definately want to make sure you have a saw that runs a flood coolant. It will extend blade life tremendously and expedite your cutting process as well.Granthttp://jackalopefab.com/MM210Synchrowave 200DXMiller XMT350 w/60series feederMiller Bobcat 250 with SGA 100 and spoolgunHTP PlasmaFull Machine shop with everything

Reply:Yes the ellis saw are awesome but for some people its not worth the cost. All depends on what the owner does, if it is hobby and garage stuff there is no need. Business/commercial stuff yes.I love my 100 year old Rong fu that I bought at auction for $200! Bought a new bearing set for it off ebay for like $40 and has been working great ever since! I use it daily and would nothing else!
Reply:One thing I did to our Ramco at work that helps out a bit. The majority of our cuts are square. The vise jaws and vise bottom on a lot of these imports are less than stellar. Some tweaking is required. Spend a little time squaring up the fixed vise jaw with a smaller framing square. Clamp it into place. Check a couple of cuts as the jaw may move slightly when tightening. Get two taper pins and a taper reamer and pin the "square" location. This way, when you have to make angled cuts, you can pop the taper pins out and set the desired angle. When you are done, move the fixed jaw back to square and drop int the taper pins again. This eliminates the problem where the jaw has moved just a scad enough to give you fits.(Or someone else did a crap job of re-squaring the jaw) If the pins are in, it's square.Last edited by dunemetal; 09-16-2011 at 02:41 PM. |
