Hi,I live in Europe and have 240V 50 Hz outlets. Will a US Lincoln 180C rated for 240 V 60 Hz work on this 50 Hz ?Thanks!sippe
Reply:It'll work for a short while then overheat and cease to function. So no.
Reply:It may pay to read the owners manual since some equipment is designed to operate on both frequencies. As a general rule since inductive reactance ( 2 pi F L ) goes up with frequency - and this is what limits the current - running 60hz equipment on a lower frequency means more current flow. You would come out much better running 50hz on 60 hz, although it would be a little less efficient. But I would check the manual and see what it says.
Reply:Per the manual (available from Lincoln's website), the machine is a 60 Hz machine. So, the answer is Nope. The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ... |
