I'm thinking of fabbing a simple on off switch   To use while tig welding with my Ta 211. I have two Honeywell micro switches rated at 15a 125v,250v or480vac. It is a 3 tab switch so it can have contact open or closed. Or both. Yeah I should just buy a foot pedal but really have no need for one. I'm welding dc only and downslope while working the torch switch is good. I just want to steady my torch hand by not having to push the torch mounted switch repeatedly. Attached is a pic of the switch I have two of them. Any thoughts, suggestions, warnings and help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance Austin. Reply:I'd recommend reading your owners guide....  Subtle hint, http://thermadyne.com/IM_Uploads/Doc..._March2013.pdfPage 3-12, the section entitled "Remote Control Socket" I doubt that circuit even pulls 10 milliamps.   Those snap action switches will be fine.  Off = open, On=closed circuit.  Chose the two pins that match that functionality.  You want the output pin labeled "NO" which stands for Normally Open (and not the pin marked NC = Normally closed)Now you've got to build a foot pedal that works with those switches (no easy task. ) I may be much easier to add the switch to an existing foot pedal.  I'd probably stay clear of the plastic sewing machine foot pedals.  Find an cheap music foot pedal...
