I ALWAYS look all around Home Cheapot and Lowes when I am there as they have clearance stuff in odd places.So the other day I am in HD  and I see a Lincoln AC225 in a ripped up box. I look at it and see that they have sprayed the dreaded Orange paint dot (clearance) and scribed in a reduction date with an electro pencil.Original price was $269, clearance reduction was $140. Upon further inspection, the tag says reduced because of "damage" Reason listed as "cut wire". So I start by pulling the electric cord/plug out, it is perfect. I then pull the ground lead out, perfect again, I then pull the hot lead out and see the end of the lead has the insulation stripped and bare wire in the last 2 inches. There are no cuts in any of the wires.I look in the back of the welder and find the manuals envelope, the ground clamp, the assorted sample rods pack. I tilt up the machine and find the brand new electrode holder with cover at the bottom of the box.I determine that the wire has never even been mounted, just the end is frayed a bit. I ask the guy if it can be marked down any more as it was more than a week since the first one. He asks the Mgr. who says..............................................  ..................................................  ..................................................  ...$80.68SOLD say's I.Take it home, restrip the wire properly, put the clamps on, plug it in and fire it up.Works perfectly and it still has the Lincoln 3 year warranty to boot!Doesn't quite match my Lincoln 175 (without gun) for $35 brand new, but it definitely was a steal.

Reply:Have fun with it.  Make some $ with that inexpensive machine!It will weld heavier stuff than your Lincoln 175.  David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
