sa 200 alt upgrade

Hello there I have a 1980 sa 200 and would like to replace my factory external regulated alternator with an internal regulated delco remy 130 amp alternator can someone tell show me how to wire it correctly??? . I will try to get pics on later!!

Reply:I just pop one in, out of a gm truck with a v groove, other than the belt , no mods are required

Electrically you can wire it up the same was as the link in this post describes:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...011#post215011But it probably has a two-ear mount, and to produce max current will probably need more belt drive than the SA-200 has.Why the big alternator?Good Luck
Reply:yes its a 2ear on the bottom mount. they were free!!! I want to run an inverter for 120 ac power what do you think???
Reply:They were free! Sounds like you're shopping at the right place. I think it'd work. Not sure how compact the mount will be; and at max output, I believe there would be drive belt issues.How many watts of AC are you after?Good Luck
Reply:enough to run say a dewalt porta band .I think I will try to do sum tradin to a smaller alternator you are probably right bout drive belt issues didnt think about that thanks
Reply:The alternator and battery you have now would keep up for intermittent use.Or is the Motorola not charging?
Reply:heres a pic of my 1980 sweetheart ive had since 1994 she didnt always look this good she has bout 1500hrs on new engine . but when I took her apart she got murphy gauges and new hourmeter, paint, brushes radiator,rheostat, stainless exhaust and a chrome flapper! Attached Images

Reply:no switch on remote. I made my own ditch box out of an old electrical box and the old faceplate off my machine and a new rheostat .
