Reply:Thats one cool thing about flux core. You arent changing rods with wet gloves.

Reply:This is all we ever got. Being a certified welder the union required the companies replace our rain gear when it got burned up.http://www.homedepot.com/p/Mossi-SX-...2?N=5yc1vZc4olDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:That looks like a pretty durable gun. I have been looking to get 1, a few questions. Amp rating, Length looks like 12 foot, how much?Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Esab 161lts miniarc.
Reply:I know I'm demonstrating my ignorance, but why a special "flux core gun" ??  If you have a mig machine that will do flux or gas, why a different gun for flux?   Or is related to heavy amp flux core versus my little SP-125 Plus?(Probably just answered my own question.)Jerry30+ yrs Army Infantry & Field Artillery, 25 yrs agoMiller 350LX Tig Runner TA 210, spool gunLincoln 250/250 IdealArcESAB PCM 500i PlasmaKazoo 30"  vert BSKazoo 9x16 horiz BSClausing 12x24 lathe20T Air Press

Reply:The gun is mainly designed for structural use with larger self shielded wires. It has a heat shield and a trigger that is easy to replace in the field if needed.I really bought it because when running 045, my regular 400a gun was getting a little warm. It is true about the neck being different than a regular mig gun and the liner is a lot larger/less flexible to ensure the wire feeds correctly. The tips are much heavier and have about a 1/4-20 thread on them with around a 5/16" body diameter. There is a big strain relief where it connects to the feeder. I really like how easy it is to swap necks because each one has its own liner. The gun is smaller than the standard ones and feels a little more user friendly. Will look at the ticket when I go out to the shop this morning and post prices. I think the total for everything in the pics plus 2 wire wheels came to $450 including tax.Sent from my SPH-L710 using TapatalkTOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE

Reply:On the goosenecks for the K-126 guns, that little piece of liner generally went in the bay. Seems as they always slide out of the gooseneck, so we would just pull it on out and pitch it. Reply:When you're feeding new wire, especially .045” or smaller. Make sure to remove the contact tip. When the wire hits the contact tip, most times it will hang up. When the drive rolls spin it will cause a rats nest at the drive rolls. .068” and bigger a lot of guys don't even pull the old wire out of the gun. They just cut the new wire 90-degrees to it's self, and start the new wire in the drive rolls. This way they don't lose the 15-feet of wire. I do not recommend this! I did it once, the wire passed each other and got jammed in the gun, took me about an hour to get the wire pulled out! Thought crossed my mind several times that I just screwed up a $300.00 gun to save 15-feet of wire!Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:[QUOTE=7A749;4249061]Getting your nut sack zapped would certainly not be very much fun Well, no its not. I once shinnied out on a 12" pump discharge over a pond to install a diffuser to keep the bank from washing out, The pipe was wet and so were my gloves from dragging stuff out with a rope... Oops! But hey, I still had 2 more great kids after that. Hmm. They were twins...
