Reply:If you go to the Yahoo 4X6 bandsaw group and join they have any number of mods, adjustments and improvements that really bring these little saws alive.  They have a tru and adjust procedure alone that takes about an hour but gets the saw cutting damn near perfectly straight.  An the down feed and stand mods as well as coolant systems are priceless.  Definately worth taking a lokk and getting signed up.  I've been a member for a good bit and it has helped me several times to solve stupid stuff I caused.  Hope this helps.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?
Reply:cheers for that bob just joined it.like the stand tom espec the stops as lot of what i need to do are same lengths.
Reply:I bought the "exact same one" recently so I'm also looking for ideas. It saws well but its operating manual sucks and its stand just screams for replacement. I also found the manufacture of the vise terrible, its "machined" surfaces not flat or even square. It took a while to remove what must have been a good 1/16", but now they are and they hold much more securely and precisely. I like acourtjester's idea for a stop to replace the pos installed by default. Reply:i'm pondering the idea of buying one and making a permanent vertical mount for it..tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/
Reply:I did that with a portaband.  I really like it -- and there's no footprint.  It fits on a shelf in a cabinet when I'm not using it.  Since I've only got a small two-car garage, that part part was important. It allows you to get pretty precise with a usually-not-very-precise tool.Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:Jack that looks great.I'm not in the market for a portaband but if you can post a few more pictures that would be cool.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:def more pics espec on angle gauge set up pls.
Reply:Thanks.  I didn't make the base for mine -- I bought it from a guy who makes stuff for the 4x4 crowd.  It's a simple C-shaped table replacement for the kick plate on the saw.  You use a bench vise at that point to hold it upright.  (The guy also makes a version that is free standing).  Here's a link to the manufacturer.  It's important to remember that you need to get a deep-throat portaband (either Dewalt or Milwaukee) if you're going to use this table attachment. The miter guide is an option that attaches a piece of C-shaped stock to either side of the table.  You can then use a standard miter guide to push the stock through at an angle. They also sell a foot pedal switch to start and stop the saw.  Here are some other pictures I took.  As you can see from the first picture, the second-hand Milwaukee portaband I got was a little rough before I cleaned it up.Jack OlsenMy garage website

Reply:These Chinese saws are good bang for the buck.  I've had mine about 10 years.  I did have to replace the motor when the smoke escaped.  I put up with the crappy stand for years.  Best thing I did was put it on a stand with the chop saw and belt sander where it is at a comfortable height and not so flimsy.  The drip oiler comes in real handy for the saw or on the lathe for threading or knurling.  The stands use 3/4 black pipe for the uprights and half a pipe clamp for adjusting the height.  They are attached to 25-lb wieghts for their bases.Sorry for the bad pictures.  Here I made a spacer so I could put the eccentric adjustment for the ball bearing guides on the outside where I could actually get a hold of them.I rebuilt the tension adjustment and moving jaw  so they are more robust and not such a sloppy fit.
Reply:I like the drip oiler, neat idea!
