Reply:+1 for the rout-a-burr. I do a bunch of large diameter castings and have found nothing faster.

Reply:The fan shaft was 10 or 12 inches and the price was for the new bearing with housing.Yes, I pass on everything I learn. Someone taught me and I feel it is very important to pass it on to the younger apprentices as they are the ones that will one day be running the show. Not to mention that they will keep my pension going once I retire also Once I hired 4 men to help me repair several smaller motor bearings, 4" shafts. The hall sent me 4 apprentices, they said they had the class, but have never done it in the real world."Good, because you are about to get a real world course and under a time schedule also."They had 5 - 8 hr days to pull the rotors; clean; inspect and replace.Scrape the bearings (90% contact); check oil gap; rebuild; couple and align to the gearbox.Everything had to be bought off by the coordinator also. They were nervous and there were times I wanted to pull my hair, but patient prevailed. They did good and learned a lot.Last edited by skelley521; 10-29-2011 at 02:06 PM.Semper FiJesus may have been a Carpenter, but his dad was a Millwright" A grinder and a can of paint, will make a welder what he aint' "I've done so much, with so little, for so long, that now I can do anything with nothing!
Reply:I found that an old worn out file is great for deburing pipe, just pull off the handle, and the curved part where it goes from the wide file to the tang, is perfect for deburing pipe from 3/8th- 1'Deereman75 from TBNLincoln electric AC225SBlueshield O/A torchSmiths aircraft torchCH 3HP 220V air compressorlots of power toolslongevity stickweld 250 |
