Hey folks, new to this site.  Lots of good info here it seems.  Hopefully it'll help me straighten out my prolem here.  I've got a Lincoln pro mig 175 that I've had for a few years now.  It's always worked great until now.   When I turned it on this morning I heard a loud POP noise and then nothing.  No fan, no feed, no arc.  Neither the internal circuit breaker or the one in my shop tripped.  I pulled the cover and verified the switch was working and the circuit breaker was passing current with a dvm.  Unfortunately ( I think) nothing looks burnt and all the connections are intact so I'm not sure where to start looking.  Anyone know what would cause this?  It was pretty cold in the garage this morning, a contributing factor maybe?  Thanks in advance.
Reply:Check the internal breaker with meter, check the auxillary transformer for input and output, the auxillary is part of the fan motor windings.Cheers
Reply:I checked the internal breaker already, it's ok.  That was my first thought since NOTHING was working.  I'll check th aux transformer and check back with the results today.  Thanks!
Reply:Okay, I've got 235vac going in and zilch coming out.  I assume this is a pretty good indication that I've got a blown aux transformer/fan motor?  I'll have to price one tomorrow, any rough idea what one of those should cost?  Thanks again for your help, Billy.

Reply:I pulled the old motor/transformer out this morning.  And this is what I saw...The new part cost about $70 and will be here by the end of the week.  It was really dirty inside too, lots of metal shavings from grinding and various other types of dirt.  Probably didn't help.  I will definitely blow the dirt out of it every once in a while from now on.  Thanks again!
