HELP!!!Welding on AC, seemed to weld OK. Switch to DC and seemed the same. Switched back to AC, No more arc, just a spatter of sparks. Also, have drop in power on 110 plugs. Remove cover, started engine, put a voltage meter on the 110 plugs, it read 40-75 volts. Cleaned slip rings 400 grit paper as well as the brushes. Started engine again, tested electrode. Same thing, no arc. Called Lincoln and tech said "Flash Voltage" to replace 4 way bridge rectifier. Installed and tested electrode, no arc. Heat control knob set at 95, wire started to smoke. Moved to 110, smoked the wire. Appriciate any suggestions.
Reply:Which wire is smoking? I have seen the same symptoms caused by a shorted output diode. If this is the case another symptom is the engine won't idle down.Gary Haunemail [email protected] http://haunsystemsrepair.com
Reply:Gary,Thank you for the quick response. You are correct. The engine does not want to idle down. It seems whatever wire the selector switch is switch to is gets hot and is smoking. Thanks again,Kris |
