Mig Welding Technique

I am really new to welding, just got my first welder and am starting to get a feel for it but I have a question(possibly a very dumb one) on technique. Is there any reason not to weld front to back/back to front instead of traveling left to right/right to left if conditions allow? I seem to get better results setting the joint up to where it runs almost perpendicular to my body and travel towards my body. Is that a "no no"? On a separate note, I have about an hour of time on my Lincoln 210MP and really like it so far.
Reply:When you get into building things. You have to be able to weld in all directions. Reply:I suggest getting comfortable with both pushing and pulling the puddle. Reply:Notice as both said, get comfortable pushing or pulling the puddle. This pretty much indicates welding in all directions. Truthfully as I type, think about visual preference in certain fit-ups, I would have problems seeing past the nozzle or behind the nozzle to follow the puddle. Which is why most recommend left to right or right to left.
