I had a chance this morning to try out a new style wheel for aluminum that fits a 4 1/2" grinder. I've seen a lot of tools in my time but every once in a while you get to see something that makes you say "wow". This one done that for me.Angie made a video of the wheel in use. Even at that it doesn't do it justice. It cut amazingly fast with no pressure at all. For beveling or grooving it would be amazing.Presently I'm not doing any aluminum work so I didn't purchase one.  I made Angie take the video because anybody that is working in aluminum needs to see this. I'm going to start hunting for aluminum work just so I can buy the wheel. Reply:Al, I'm hoping to be at LaSalle Station in late January if I work refuel.  Braidwood is in April.  I don't think a person's body parts (skin or bones) would fare very well if they came into contact with that cutter!  BE CAREFULL!!!   After all, it makes math easier when you have all of your digits!"The man of great wealth owes a peculiar obligation to the State, because he derives special advantages from the mere existence of government."  Teddy RooseveltAmerican by birth, Union by choice!  Boilermakers # 60America is a Union.
Reply:I need one of those baddly... Untill now I have been cutting aluminum with stainless zip discs on the angle grinder but they load up, it is slow and wears the discs very fast. I haven't had much luck with the jigsaw either. Noisy as hell and somehow it catches and the damn saw gets out of controll. I got recently a circular saw for wood which I have been told it can be used for aluminum as well... But that won't work for rounding up corners, cleaning cuts and such.As I said... I need one!Mikel
Reply:A router works great for aluminum also....Mike

Reply:Cool tool.It is surprising how well aluminum works with a lot of wood-cutting tools.  In the interest of future searchers, here's .Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:i frequently have to remove aluminum welds from a deck, work boats normally, or prep a nasty surface on the hull or deck for a weld.  i use my hitachi circular saw moving sideways.  whatever blade is in it.  takes a little practice but you get better at it.  rips the old stuff right off.   this looks like a better alternative.

Reply:I got a PM from a member "Cryo Gal" with the price .  Not sure why they didn't post to the thread ?  maybe because not a site sponsor or something.    I would have to be cutting a lot of aluminum to justify buying one...The 4" is $175, the 5" is $275. Id be happy to get one sent to you.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250

Reply:For my uses, you'd need to nudge the decimal point over to the left one space to make it worthwhile.  But I'm sure there are jobs where it would pay for itself in saved time.  And it's nice to see a new type of technology.Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:yep i understand it is a new product but its still only some steel and 8 pieces of carbide ...    I could see paying 50 or 75 bucks...  for the price they are asking I would definitely have to try the thing out first.   Kind of like the Multiplaz I went and demoed.  neat peice of equipment but not at $2000.Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250lazeyjack on the boatdesign forums uses the blade shown below. http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/met...ate-20190.html
