I have a millermatic 175 and I am using. 030 fluxcore wire and it has been working great till it just randomly started arcing just before the liner and burning the wire and braking it. I have changed everything on the torch besides the linner could this be a bad liner ?
Reply:If you are running a 4" diameter spool of wire, the start of the roll of wire could be making contact with the flat washer of the spool hub tensioning components.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
Reply:I will take a look I am going to replace the liner anyways it cannot hurt. It was just like a switch flipped everything was working good till bam it started this. I am about 1/4-1/2 of the spool of wire so I will let you know thank you for the response
Reply:Occasionally, on the 4" spools, the start of the roll ends up being behind the sticker/label on the sides of the roll. As the spool rotates, the short length of wire sticking out spool wears through the sticker. There have been past posts, on this, on one of the welding forums that I visit. When the wire wore through, and made contact with the washer, they experienced the same issue you are having.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
