Christmas In August...

Got to the shop this AM and found all this FREE stuff on the floor..Someone was cleaning out their garage and did not want to just throw all this out so they dropped it all off for us...I took this 3 jaw INDEPENDENT chuck for.....My....."New" Aircrafter #3 Positioner!!!!Now....Does anyone have any idea what the pipe fitting in the back is for?Other than that it works perfectly..smoothly....backwards..forwards fast setting...slow setting......10 times better than the old one I blew up.Tomorrow I am going to change the chuck and with this 3 jaw I can make myself a set of inside and outside jaws because it already is tapped 1/4-20 on the orig jaws..Price for the positioner?Don't get mad now.....$300.00Shop paid for it.Chucks for free.This is from the weld shop owner that's retiring that I posted about a few months ago...He said he has had a offer for the whole shop but if it falls thru I will post all the stuff he wants to sell and it includes a Lincoln 300-300 tig machine with cooler..Couple of MIGS..Pipe positioner..BIG positioner that's outside...HUGE shear and break..Platen table with dogs....etc. etc. etc....Whatever happens I will let ya know but for now I am a VERY happy person!I get all the fun toys.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Zap,Check and see if that positioner is setup for back-purging stainless.  I have used one that had provisions for hooking up a gas line.  That fitting may pass argon through to the center of the table...Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
