Arc voltage

Hi !It was long time since last time I have been in the Forum....Now I need a information, regardind the voltage between the stick electode and the work when the ARC PLASMA IS ON.I know that the welder machine output is about 50~80 volts OCV however I need know the voltage of the arc during the welding.Thank for any information.Regards Newton
Reply:That question leaves a lot open. The current/ amps stay the same. There is many variables that can effect the voltage. Every type of electrode will have a different burn off rate, and if you pull a longer arc or shorter arc the voltage will change its rate of transfer across the arc. If its AC EP or EN will make a difference. If you use arc force it will make a difference. If you are using a buzz box, inverter or dc generator it will make a difference. If you use arc force.... If you use a miller or Lincoln....Better to use a Lincoln .I do somehow remember from somewhere along the way the numbers 21- 34 welding voltage, please don't quote me on that. Not something a guy thinks about everyday or uses too often. What's more important is to  knowing how to set yourself up for success before you even start. Rod type and diameter, the appropriate amps for the position and thickness of steel. How to react on the fly when reading the puddle.Why did you need to know that anyway?Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
