Hi guys I have a question in regard to a machine I know a guy that states that he has a 1960s to 1970s Pipeliner in his old barn he states that it has a curved top with the hoist hook it also has the Armature cone coming out of the front of it to my knowledge this sounds like an old SA200 to me. He also said it was missing the two side doors. Is there any other pipeline welders of that time period That meet the same description, he also stated that it had a Wisconsin twin engine on it, with DC generator output, I am thinking about going to look and see what it really is but what is your view what it could be..
Reply:I could be wrong but I thought the sa200's all used an F-163 for power not a Wisconsin twin. It would be well worth your time to atleast take a look at it. The early sa's used an F-162 but pretty much the same as the 163. it.
Reply:Could be a junior
Reply:Did the juniors have side door? I think per his description that it must be a Lincoln due to the armature cone, he said I would have to have a large pickup bed to haul it, thats why I was thinking it would be a larger unit like an SA200, I don't know of any other welder during that time frame that had an armature cone.
Reply:He also mentioned it was gasoline and not diesel
Reply:Just go look and make an offer on it. Some people don't know a Wisconsin or any engine from a hole in the ground.
Reply:You always have to investigate leads like this. It could even be an old Hobart, the G213 models had Wisconsin engines. I ran down a lead like this and came home with a 1966 Redface SteveLincoln SA200 (1966 Redface)Lincoln IdealArc 250Steve1990 Miller Dialarc 2501993 Miller Maxstar 140 STR2015 Lincoln MP2101966 Lincoln SA200 Redface
Reply:I'm hoping its a Lincoln, I just finished an old Lincoln TM300 that I found in an old mining supply.
Reply:I'm nearly 100 percent positive that older-than-old SA's had Wisconsin engines -- or was it Hercules?  Can't remember now.  I think there was a thread here awhile back where somebody was trying to resurrect one of these welders and I remember he was working on getting the engine unstuck.Last edited by tbone550; 11-02-2015 at 08:50 PM.

Reply:I believe that old thread was a 1936 SA200 and it was a Waukesha SteveLincoln SA200 (1966 Redface)Lincoln IdealArc 250Steve1990 Miller Dialarc 2501993 Miller Maxstar 140 STR2015 Lincoln MP2101966 Lincoln SA200 Redface
Reply:I am hoping it's not an old Hobart, we will see tomorrow, he stated it had a rounded top hood with a armature cone so I don't think it would be a Hobart, Hobarts are square with no side panels, I'm hoping it's at least a Junior

Reply:I would be happy if that was what I found, he said it still runs, I'll post pics of it tomorrow when I find out exactly what I am dealing with!

Reply:Ahh.......New welding machine.     Almost better than... no never mindTerry
Reply:Ok guys , the nameplate says Wilson 200 amp arc welder, never heard of a Wilson anyone know anything about this?
Reply:Pics help a lot - then when it's an off brand that was built by someone else, like miller/hobart/lincoln etc - it's easier to pick out.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:There were some made early on with V-4 cylinders.
Reply:Here they are!
Reply:Some nice looking machine I would have taken it.
Reply:Looks more related to a hobart. Still a really good machine. It's worth at lest a $1. Hell offer him two. Doesn't sound like you can lose. My friend has a G-213 with the wisconsin on it with 137 hours. My square baler has the same engine thats froze. I am currently plotting to swindle him out of his engine, haha. The engine is worth quite a bit. If it ran well I'd drop $500 on it...but I kinda need one right now too.Arcon Workhorse 300MSPowcon 400SMTPowcon SM400 x 2Powcon SM3001968 SA200 Redface1978 SA250 DieselMiller Super 32P FeederPre 1927 American 14" High Duty LatheK&T Milwaukee 2H Horizontal MillBryan
Reply:Does the pic of the machine show it in the back of YOUR truck?TerryIt's my friends truck, the welder is sitting on a small cart in the bed if his truck.
Reply:So I assume you bought it!If so, congratulationsTerry
Reply:Airco
Reply:I did buy it, just for a project, still runs and fires right up, does anyone know where I can find the original manual or anything? This thing appears ancient.. which is awesome!
Reply:AIRCO sold a Wasp Special under their name. Some Air Reduction (AIRCO) welders also had the Wilson name on the badge."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Wilson may be a company who built welders for Airco? The welder in question also says Air reduction on the bottom of the name plate. I used to have a 1959 Airco Hornet Special with a Continental F140 that had 6 current ranges and was slightly smaller than an SA200 because the exciter didn't stick out the front but very similar. It was a good machine and possibly a deluxe version of this machine with the water cooled engine. The generator case was more square though. What did you p[ay for it? Airco had a lot of good machines.
