Gold lens???

Best gold lens for the money? Just bought a passive miller hood to accompany my speedglas 9100xx looking for a blue tint shade 10

Reply:the best welding lens i ever used pipelining  was a gold lens with blue tint  made by american optical    the puddle was outstandingly clear   the problem is they are still in business but the lens is unavailable      if you were to find some surplus   send me a couple  i tried  indiana oxygen,htpamerica and daytona mig with no results  good luck

Reply:Phillips safety glass gold-coated lens is a good lens, but mine has a greenish tint, not a blue tint.
Reply:I recently switched over to a Phillips "Athermal" shade 12 at work and like it a lot better than the green plastic gold coated (Trimark brand) ones I had been using.
Reply:On ebay search Aulektro Gold lens and try that one the color is amazing its more blue than Philips Saftey's but the shade 10 is kinda brighter than most shade 10s but its still one of my favs.  I have a SG 9100xx to and no gold lens will give you better optics than it.  I have literaly evey glass gold lens in circulation except the Cool Blue and none have impressed me more than my Speedglas.  So yeah try that Aulektro gold lens on ebay you will like it its color is super unique like a white blue with a Tiny bit of green.

Reply:I find it really hard to read the puddle with those blue drop ins or 2pc gold lenses. They are waaay too dark, even with a shade 9... The arc and puddle are both the same color blue I feel like green and amber are way easier to read the puddle with....  The blue drop ins only allow blue light to be seen, where as my Speedglas 9100xx allows many different shades of green and yellow, it has a bright green arc, and a yellow green puddle I feel it makes it easier to see the weld tie in... I thought I would like the blue color but I feel like orange or yellow or green make everything pop way more thus fatiguing my eyes less....  Just my 2 centsLast edited by Lunchbox148; 08-03-2015 at 12:37 AM.

Reply:Phillips does not sell ATHERMAL welding lebses anymore even though they advertise still that they do, i contacyed them numerous times about it and have gotten no response, the lenses they sell are good, but i wanted a gold athermal lens,  i never had one and im a clarity nut case so wanted to try one, instead i got a SEVEROSKLO gold glass lens, SEVEROSKLO is the german glass company they sell now, does anybody own both athermal and severosklo for a good comparison,  if not does anybody know a reliable source to find gold athermal lenes
