need to buy a couple for the shop, don't mind investing in quality. Should I go with Metabo, or are there other brands to consider in the "professional" catagory?  I do not want some piece of trash that I need to fix / replace every other month.
Reply:Milwaukee 6066 heavy and metal, not a kids toy.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Milwaukee, Dewalt, Metbo, Rigid. Hard to go wrong with Milwaukee. I also have a 4in. Snapon that I have had for years. A bit pricey but great quality.
Reply:I use the 9" Milwaukee, and I'm sure the 7" is just as good.  I have also heard good things about Fein and plan to give them a try when I need a new grinder.
Reply:if i didn't have my big azz Rockwell 9" and old BD industrial  9" i would look at the Bosch or Milwaukee. both lws that sell Matabo's tell me that they are great machines that rarely have a warranty issue, but when they do Matabo "ALWAYS" says operator abuse and will not honor the warranty.225NT bobcatAEAD200LEScott 125mm175, mm252 w 30A, PT225mm211, TA 181iHyper Therm 380, cut master 529100X & XX, Digital Elite6 Victor setssmith little torch, meco midget kalamazoo band sawsteel max saw evoulution circular saw
Reply:I was recently at home cheapo, & they actually have 7" "made in the USA"  Makita grinders.I haven't picked one up yet, & I've never used a makita grinder but I'll post when I do.Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:I have found milwaukee to be too heavy for the 9" grinder and much prefer the dewalt. It is lighter and smaller body. I have had the same grinder for about 3 years and no issues. used pretty much daily. I also like hitachi for the price they last along time. Matebo is pretty muck king for small grinders, never used the big ones.thermal arc mst400, va4000 feeder, lincoln 175 min, victor torches, miller s32p feeder, air arc k4000 for work.
Reply:I've had my 7" Milwaukee since 1981.It's probably seen 5 or 6 years of hard use, the rest,home/hobby use. They might be made in China now.Miller a/c-d/c Thunderbolt XLMillermatic 180 Purox O/ASmith Littletorch O/AHobart Champion Elite
Reply:i have a 6086-20 milwaukee its a 9" with 15 ampcheck out toolbarn.com thats where i bought mine Attached Images
Reply:The Bosch 7" grinder is a bear.  Well balanced, powerful. and smooth running, but weighs a ton.  If you use it vertical for long, you won't need to go to the gym and that's a fact.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:happy with my ridgid, came with lifetime warranty.
Reply:Metabo, Dewalt. I also like the Makita line, but haven't used the 7".Curious why 7" I use 4 1/2, 6, 9 inch because of disk availabilty, nobody in my neck of the woods stocks 7 inch disks.
Reply:i agree on the rigid. very nice and pretty light. seems to allow you to get in some tighter places the others wont sometimes too.
Reply:The 7 inch makita is a great grinder. Part# 9005b I believe. We use them at work and they get abused day in and day out. Some of them have been around for a few years.Miller Bobcat 250Westinghouse ac arc welderIts better to be hated for who you are than liked for who your not.
