I'm doing some research on getting an upgraded welder and one of the questions that has come up is about fronius and miller machines.I had never even heard of fronius up until recently and holy smokes was that ever an eye opener. Basically what are some advantages that the new fronius TSP/i machines have over miller machines for steel applications? I am impressed with how they handle non ferrous welding and thin stock, but what do they do for plain old steel that is special? So far I've been able to find out that the fronius machines are quite a bit more forgiving and require less skill to get acceptable results.A bit of sloppy handiwork still provides excellent penetration. They make less mess and modern waveforms put less heat into the material. When tacking in tight spots the fronius machine results in cold tacks snapping less often due to software voodooThey weld quite a bit faster in term of inches per minute. Anyone have anything else to add? Thanks a ton guys
Reply:Yeah, Fronius and Kemppi never really broke into the American market, yet they have Miller Dynasty level controls and engineering in the MIG process. But their cost is just not what Americans are willing to pay. $25k for a MIG welders. Other continents are used to paying much more for their welding equipment. For example, Everlast sells an $8k welder in Europe that competes with that $25000 Kemppi or Fronius. But none of these brands could sell it in the USA because most folks would laugh them out of town. So i would say that bot the Fronius and Kemppi are way more advanced than the American offerings from Miller at least. I don't know how competitive the pricing is in the US I don't think you can get Kemppi or Fronius. you might need to hire a welding engineer to set your welder up though...Last edited by soutthpaw; 11-09-2015 at 09:09 AM.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.
