I tried a 1/4 7024 the other day just to see how it did on my Ranger GXT. It did quite wellbut i would like to know what is the largest electrode you have used. Thanks, Bart.
Reply:3/16 8018 on a ranger 250. Its the limit for me and the machine.Did you run the 7024 on AC?DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I have a Lincoln weldan power 225 G7 and the biggest I ever ran was 5/32 7024 and it ran quite good.I tryed air arcing with 1/4 rod and it didn"t seem t have enogh umph to us it real good but it may have been due the amount of rust and not enough air pressure cuz it would run good for a minute then cold????so will just go get smaller rod and work it like that maybe some 3/32.If it's too . get an office jobLincoln wp225g7 Lincoln 250 idealarcFrankenstein O/A set-up Weld-tech tig set-upLincoln sp 175 plus profax arc gouger
Reply:Lincoln sez 1/4" 7024 starts at 315 amps DC or 350 amps AC.3/16 starts at 220 amps up to 280.Try arc air with the G7 with 3/16 rod, it should do it.Here is the linkhttp://content.lincolnelectric.com/p...ature/c210.pdfDavid Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:David, I ran the 7024 on DC+ just to see what would happen then on DC-. I'm just trying to get a feelfor the capacity to know what it's limits are. Thanks, Bart.

Reply:David, I'll try that. I'll also get some thicker stock. I used 1/2 plate and welded a T-joint. Later, Bart.
