SA200 Age?

I read all your notes on codes and serial #and that would be great but mine doesn't have any has a nice face plate but no #'s.Where the serial # is there is an A and thats it.What are the chances of using the engine serial #FS162 6022 8513.Will a person beable to get the year from that?Thanks Pete
Reply:There is supposed to be a plate on the generator with numbers to help identify what you have, too. I've owned three SA 200's over the years and have never found it. Reply:You are SOL.  The serial number of the welder is what you require and that should have been on the faceplate.  A code can get you close but nobody that I know of has a list of codes compared to year of manufacture.I am trying to compile such a list but it is slow going.  Only some machines on EvilBay, Craigslist, Kijiji, etc have the serial and code included in the description.Anyone out there have some for me to include on my list?Gordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."

Reply:You know it is suprising that the engine serial # can't tell a guy something.As far as a generator goes mine has an alternator which I'm sure is after market.I guess SOL is the answer.

Reply:Hey DENREP,I just looked on a friend of mines welder and your right there are numbers stamped there and they do corrispond to the code number,unfortunetly some Knothead somewhere down the road welded a galvenized electrical outlet right no top of where that number should be.Of all the places on that welder to put something they pick there.
