lincoln weldanpower help, PLEASE!?

I have a Lincoln weldanpower ac225/dc210, with a 16 hp briggs. I bought it for $20 needing the carb and starter. I luckily had just gotten another 16 hp same model from my uncle. Well long story short. I have gotten everything working on it except. The machine will not run 3600 rpm unless I make it. The idler solenoid does work. I reset the governor, but it runs around 2200 rpms. The machine welds great and the generator works fine, when made to run 3600 rpm. I just don't think its good on it to run that fast all the time. I just need some help on what I am over looking or missing. This forum has helped a lot with figuring this thing out.

Reply:Now does that control the engine rev up under a load?
Reply:if you run the engine at low idle and put a load on does she kick up at all? if so then it should be an adjustment, the lincoln web sight has some manuals to look at..if nothing happens then it could be electronic problem
Reply:I have adjusted the idle like the manual says. The idler solenoid is working. It does kick up a bit when I turn the rheastat all the up. But it will not reach 3600. It does not rev up when trying to strike an arc or plugging in something that pulls a load.
Reply:I don't think its supposed to go 3600.  RTFM...Go to lincoln and find out the specs.  You could send parts flying......David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:This machine was designed to run at 3600 rpm. when the idle solenoid energizes it should go to idle. When an arc is struck the solenoid de-energizes and allows the engine to run at 3600 rpm. It sounds like there may be a governor linkage problem. Check to see with the engine off that the throttle is resting at wide open.Gary Haunemail  [email protected]  http://haunsystemsrepair.com
