I just bought my first suitcase welder to run off my miller bobcat 250. I have the suitcase hooked up to mig right now. But really have no clue on how to adjust the wire speed and voltage. So a little insight would be helpful. I welded with it today and messed with it a bit but don't know enough about it to really set it up good.
Reply:What wire and size are you running. Is it flux core or hard wire?

Reply:If you down load Millers manual for the MM252 it gives rough settings for different wire sizes and types in voltage and wire speed. That's usually my suggestion for students who want some idea on where to set machines using those parameters. Miller also has an online calculator and an app that will do basically the same thing, but some guys still like to be able to print out a table and know at a glance how to set the machine..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Depending on what thickness metal you are welding.http://assets.lincolnelectric.com/as...rcL-56_top.jpg That should get you in the ball park
Reply:Not sure if you're looking for actual settings or procedure, but here's a little help with the procedure. Voltage is set at the Bobcat, and the suitcase won't display the actual voltage unless you have an arc going, it's a bit of a pain to do it by yourself. Wire speed is adjusted at the suitcase. |
