Reply:Slow down some. The pointy ripples tell me you were a bit too fast. It's tough to tell in that pict how "flat" those beads are. They look a bit "hilly" between one bead and the next. You are looking for almost flat between the beads. Part of what I'm seeing might just be the contrast and shadows in that picture though rather than the beads being as hilly as they look. Overall not too bad..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:One thing to watch when doing repetitive beads like that is that the heat build up doesn't fool you. I see it all the time with students. They'll come to me with really nice beads after practicing. I send them back to get a new piece of steel and run a "final" set. All of a sudden it's like they can't weld! Yep, they didn't bother to cool the work between runs and the heat build up acts like they are running way hotter than they really are. Now on cold steel, their beads look like crap. Just watch out for that as you practice. I tell students if they can pick up the coupon with their bare hands and not get burned, it's cool enough to weld on again..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
