hi guys just wondering how often your fan comes on? I have welded for quite sometime with mine and never heard the fan come on. Maybe need to take apart and see if something is wrong.
Reply:Seems to run more than say a mm252 but its always cool. Temp doesn't seem to make much difference. If it not broke leave it alone.
Reply:Running cc at 90 amps or below it dont come on much.I think miller does that so they dont suck up as much dust.old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder
Reply:Mine turns on a lot when in stick mode but when I'm mig welding it only comes on if I'm doing long welds with no breaks they have two heat sensors in them if it does overheat they will shut down and tell fairly fast
Reply:They seem to take quite a while before they first start but once the machine warms up they come on every few minutes. I mostly use mine in "always-on" stick mode though.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Mine is relatively unpredictable. I can stick weld with 3 sticks at 125 amps and zero happens. Set down the stinger, and five minutes later the fan will come on when no load is placed on machine and it should have cooled off. There are probably multpie algorithms for the fan to go on. I'd call Miller tech today and ask them. If you've never called before, you'd be pleasantly surprised at how they treat you. I called them a hunch of times on my first machine that was 20+ years old. I was treated like I bought a brand new machine the day before. There may be a test mode we don't know about. This ^^^^ is why I'll always be a blue guy.
Reply:I've used a 304 and 350 off and on frequently. Mostly stick welding. As everyone has stated, the fan seems to just come on randomly. I wouldn't worry about it.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:In stick mode the machine is constantly making voltage so it's ready to strike an arc when in mig mode or other where it only makes voltage and power when you push the trigger it's not constantly makin heat
Reply:My fan really only come on when I'm stick welding.
Reply:Yep, gotta push 'em to get the fan in MIG. |
