I recently acquired 6 cracked track pads off of a cat 322. So I figured it would make a half decent welding/ beating table. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThermal arc 211iCk flex-loc 150 & 130Clamps, saws & grindersHarbor freight 80 amp inverter

Reply:It's a little labor intensive. I'm going to add one pad at a time. Probably make two with 3 pads each one for the shop and one portable. Ya can't beat FREE !!!Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThermal arc 211iCk flex-loc 150 & 130Clamps, saws & grindersHarbor freight 80 amp inverter

Reply:FREE is always good. If you can keep it flat you could, I hate to say this but '' BUY '' a piece of plate for the top. A nice beater table is handy too. Especially with a BFH !
Reply:Nice idea using something that would most likely end up in the scrap bin. How much does one of the pads weigh?Sent from my SPH-L710 using TapatalkTOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:It's as flat as my cheap 24" level will allow, within a 1/16 or so. As far as weight goes, by feel 60lbs ish per pad. I will get plate someday waiting for a special dealSent from my iPhone using TapatalkThermal arc 211iCk flex-loc 150 & 130Clamps, saws & grindersHarbor freight 80 amp inverter
Reply:I think this is a great idea. One bonus I see is that you could zip cut through your work if you placed it well, without cutting into the table. Also the holes could be used to big advantage when clamping! Good idea!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:Austin-BennettAny port in a storm . . . The up-side: you haven't welded everypossible place you can - and you have thru-holes for anchors in the mid-field.Good adaptation.Opus
Reply:Thank you opus. Next I'm considering building a rolling base for it with swivel casters. Which undoubtedly I will need to buy material for, probably 1 1/2" square .120 wall tubing. Depending on price of course .120 wall is probably overkillSent from my iPhone using TapatalkThermal arc 211iCk flex-loc 150 & 130Clamps, saws & grindersHarbor freight 80 amp inverter |
