I got some Bessey clamps from lowes for Christmas. I did a little research and found out they are woodworking clamps. I have to get some kind of clamps from lowes since its about 100 dollars in clamps. The only other clamps lowes sells is the 500lbs light duty for welding. Are these clamps any good or should I just get a store credit?
Reply:Are you talking about the red Bessey clamps? I originally bought them for wood working but I now use them for frame clamping. They work very well - you just can't weld right next to the contact area of the clamp which for me isn't a big deal. I have a variety of them in very long lengths.

Reply:all my boss uses are the strong hand brand, excellent clamps
Reply:I'm using in my wood work, 300X140mm Bessey clamps for more than 30 years and even if the orange paint on the wooden grips is gone, they are working like the first day !!!... Really worth the money you'll pay for them. Or in wooden or metal work, it's a great (even if expensive) investment.
Reply:yes those strong hand clamps have made me alot of money there fast and strong
Reply:If they're the cast ones like I bought from lowes, they are junk. The bessey 2800lbs forged f-clamps are excellent. You won't be finding these at lowes, and the $100 is only going to buy maybe two at normal price.Lowes has the 11R vise-grip locking pliers. This might be the best welding "clamp" you'll find at lowesDynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:StrongHand FTW!!!
Reply:Strong hand clamps are sold only online and at welding supply stores there the best clamps on the market they have various screws on attachments.
Reply:Those clamps on weldingdepot.com don't even show a brand name. I'd be worried. For C-clamps, I've bought a bunch of older wilton and armstrong brand from ebay. I like the 400-series ones. There are some 800-series ones that are still forged, but I don't think they're as good as the 400s.Sometimes you can catch the "super heavy" ones for a good price. These are terrible for daily use (I have one that weighs in around 40lbs), but great if you ever need to really put the squeeze on something. The ones from mcmaster are armstrong brand and are good, but they're new at a new price.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
