Reply:Your spoiled , I know less fortunate welders who would kill for a low use wheel like that, LOL.    turn down that retainer nut in the lathe and you can get a couple more jobs out of that wheel.      I worked for a shop when I started where the owner would pick up the 7018 stubs if they were over 2" long and start quoting values like 25 cents or a nickel, whatever.Last edited by kolot; 12-29-2012 at 10:22 PM."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251   Syncrowave 300   30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200   1 short hood    SA250    SAM 400

Reply:I try to use all my grinding disks close to that point, unless the grinder starts vibrating bad, then in the trash they go. By the way, not to try to thread jack, but has anyone used KT industries grinding disks or cut off wheels? I used one of their grinding disks the other day to grind off about twenty small rivets. It wore out super fast. Didn't even come close to comparing to my Continental grinding disks. Their cut off wheels are even worse. I've had great luck with the Diablo line of disks and cut off wheels as well.-Pat

Reply:Years ago i used to work for a company that wouldn't give you a new grinding disc without you taking the old one back to them, The Guy had a piece of wood with a hole, and if the disc didn't fit in the hole he made you use it until it did I think the practice stopped when the Director queried the amount of new Grinders we had to buy because everyone  messed the thread of the grinder where it would mark the metal as your trying to push that tiny disc hoping that it would still grind.Totally idiotic, i think they got rid of this guy in the endLast edited by Gerry1964; 12-30-2012 at 07:41 AM.

Reply:By the looks of that wheel, I'm guessing your neighbors must love you Fex.....
Reply:I keep a few of the smaller ones like that around for times you need a special position or spot you can not get with a larger wheel or need a small grind for something. Reply:Nice! Keep the little wheel for a heat barrier while welding. I normally have some sort of stone around for when I have to rest my hand on the part I am welding.
Reply:I run my grinding wheels until they're wore down like that too. I try to get my money's worth too. Chad
