check this cool unit out- looks like it should have a staring role in a 50's sci fi movie!   http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/tls/5337073033.html
Reply:A.O. Smith definitely heavy, but not 100lbs of copper.  More like 10 lbs copper and 100 lbs of iron.
Reply:Very cool - and at $100 I would have probably bought it Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:The usez are endless. There was a show on HGTV with a couple hotties who would buy weird stuff and repurpose it. Unfortunately neither you or I fit that category. Lol
Reply:The shop I worked in when I was 15 had a big old Lincoln in the corner. It was round, about the size of a 45 gallon drum and had a crank on top to raise and lower the amperage. I'm not sure, but I think it was DC. Everyone that used it loved it, but it never got moved around much.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes

Reply:I would really doubt that Lincoln ever rebranded that welder, it's strictly a GE machine. Those pictures are stills from a movie that you can watch on You Tube that was produced many years ago by GE that touts the benefits of AC welding over DC. Lincoln was the big daddy in DC machines and the other manufacturers were wanting some of that market. Check out the movie on you tube if you can:Sent from my iPad using TapatalkSteveLincoln IdealArc 250Lincoln SA200 1966 RedfaceSteve1990 Miller Dialarc 2501993 Miller Maxstar 140 STR2015 Lincoln MP2101966 Lincoln SA200 Redface
Reply:Link isn't coming up here, but I might do a search for it on Utube later. Like I said, everything looks very similar, except it was a dull dark red, the there was a gold/ black "badge" (which I am very sure said Lincoln) right where that GE insignia is. Maybe it was done in Canada but not the US?Last edited by whtbaron; 12-01-2015 at 12:21 AM.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes

Reply:That old round GE is one of the first multi-function welders.  It's a welder and a water heater, all-in-one.I like some of the old ones they have in England.  Not huge, but the transformer is in an oil bath tank. Reply:We had one in our welding shop in school that looked just like the generator portion of an SA200 stood up on end, I think it had a big motor in the base to spin it up. I'm fairly certain it was from the 40's.
Reply:KO Lee made a knock out welder too no scanner or I would post it,there is a welder on Ebay a midstates with a hi freq box on top a big M for the taps! A welder from canada was neet too ,a farmer tool company made it.
Reply:That Lincoln is the hard hat welder 3 phase SA -250 motor is on top,the best stick welder made .Made in a reduced amp model the aircrafter to stick weld chrome molly tubing.
