Reply:We just bought a bedroom set that came with with a 2 big hand ful sized packets.  I crammed them in the top of my rod box and tapped it up.For 7018 as well.
Reply:Depends on the rods in question.  Probably not needed for cellulose variant rods of E-xx10 or E-xx11  types.But it is -not- an official storage method for 7018 or any other low-hydrogen rod or electrode.  The dessicant packs may help reduce atmospheric moisture, but they are still not an official storage method for those electrodes.  The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:cant hurt should help. would not satisfy rigorous inspection .
Reply:without knowing whether the weld rod or the desicant has a greater affinity for moisture absorbtion, its a crap shoot. i dont know of any rating scale or how to find out.

Reply:Silica gel keeps food fresh, and probably won’t kill you. Prematurely spoiled food is a pain in the wallet. Stashing some silica gel packs in the spice drawer, or in containers of dried fruits and herbs can help save you the pain. Putting them in the vegetable drawer also works, just don’t spill the packs around and into your salad fixings.
