So I'm starting my new job on the 13th of Feb and apparently I need my own tools. The position is a welder/mechanic. I will be in a weld shop mostly. They said I need a socket set (1/4, 3/8, 1/2 drives) a standard and metric wrench set, hammer and pry bar. I was hoping they would give me a list of some sorts but they didn't. What else do you guys think I'll need? I know I'll need a grinder and probably a wire brush or two. Also, all my safety stuff will be given to me (jacket, 2 hoods, safety glasses, gloves and boots) Let me know what you guys think will make a good addition to the list. Thanks
Reply:Most employers supply power tools like a grinder. I would look up something like "welding tool list" on the search engine here - this has been discussed many times with good suggestions.
Reply:hi,good luck with job.You may need center punch, assortment of chisels, channel locks, vise grips , adjustable wrench, scriber, tape measure, combination square, and couple small clamps. It would help if you knew what kind of plant you will be working in and type of equipment or machinery that will be there. GOOD LUCK!!! BOB
Reply:Why don't you just show up with what they told you you need, after a few days or weeks it will become obvious what else you will need.Miller Challenger 172Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC 225/150Miller Maxstar 150 STLVictor 100CVictor JourneymanOxweld OAHarris O/ASmith O/A little torchNo, that's not my car.
