These are some gates I made out of Aluminum. The fencing in the gate is plastic the frames are aluminum. There are bronze bushings in the hinges. And Teflon pads that the gates rest on within the hinge. The drop bars are stainless steel. These gates have been up well over two years now, and look like the day they were put in. There is a three and a half inch steel pipe inside the five inch aluminum box tubing. I seal the holes in the aluminum tube with toilet bowl wax ring material, and pour a quick drying cement, once I clamp the two gates together and level the gates. There are no wheels or supports of any kind. I actually held onto the gate and rode it a few times, just to make sure it solid. There is one yard of cement around each pipe in the ground. It is a conical cement pour that goes down about four feet deep. When you raise the drop bar, magnets hold the bar up so you do not need any hands on the bar. So far everyone loves them.                       Sincerely,                            William McCormick
Reply:This is an aluminum railing I made for a friend I work with. That Stone is the toughest stone to diamond core through. Ten times harder then any other color granite.                       Sincerely,                            William McCormick

Reply:The Cadd is nice. I remember working in the winter one year. No heat in the shop, the big door wide open, my lunch had frozen to the welding table. And I was trying to concentrate on laying out a pretty complex pipe railing in chalk,  on the welding table. There was a lot of weld splicing that day. Ha-ha. At the time we had a hand operated Hossfeld bender and no hydraulics. That was the only thing that warmed you up, the exercise. Haha.                      Sincerely,                            William McCormick

Reply:Thank you, but I think master is a bit out of line. More like excessively endured practice, and failure, forcing me to realize it is easier to just plan to do it right, from the start.                       Sincerely,                            William McCormick

Reply:This was a rail I made for the guy that does my powder coating. He is a cool guy, a great guy. He wanted to get rid of the old newel post on the first step. And he really came up with a modern design that actually puts the railing at the same place as the old newel post put it. Even though the new rail is mounted up on the third step, it brings the rail out to where the old newel post had brought it. I thought it was a cool idea.                       Sincerely,                            William McCormick
Reply:Nice work William.Am I to understand from your post #3 that if the rails run horizontal a 4" picket rule spacing does not apply with residential? I'm used to seeing this look with municipal and similar handrails. When I think about it I like that look, it's real clean.Matt
