I have a Precision Tig 185 and absolutely love it. Only issue is that on some of the longer welds on big material my hand/glove and the torch get a bit... toasty. I'd like to add a water cooled torch. My question is on the attachment front. The twist lock connector with the gas port is I guess what I need to source. Most of the torches I have looked at have cables on them, but go to standard threaded connections. The generic twist lock connections I have found do not provide the hole for the gas feed. My local welding supply, along with the online suppliers of lincoln parts, have (or can get) the right fittings, but I can't get a straight answer on which part number I need.I suspect I just need the same one that is on my air cooled torch. (just power and gas). and will add in the water lines externally to an external cooler. Does anyone know of a good place to source the connector? TIA
Reply:I had the presicion 225 and did the same thing to it, i added the water cooled torch for the same reason as you, on my machine the part n i believe is k 1622-4, anyways you should get a catalougue and look it up before you buy it. Good luck.
Reply:Dont laugh but I have to try this out! I got a brain storm. The tig torch that came with my new TA185 is already big and bulky. I'm learning to deal with it by setting my parameters to suit the situation but with this being said,I know I will buy a  watercooled torch and foot pedal to boot. "IDEA" I was thinking if I tightly wrap some 1/8 copper tubing around the torch head and route the lines through a antifreeze storage tank with a submerged water pump compatible with the fliud tthen run through a oil/water cooler small (radiator) fan cooled providing that the flow is balanced with the pump I would think it should cool  and keep the temperture on the head to a minimum to help prolonge the life.I always did like tinkering. I'll keep post on the idea!

Reply:Check out this link     http://www.ckworldwide.com/safe_loc.htm   I used this connector and a Bernard Cooler mounted on top of my PT 185.  Lincoln has an accessory mounting bracket used to mount a MIG on the top of your TIG. I just ordered it and mounted the cooler on the top bracket.  I have used this set up for the past few years with a CK 18 -25' water cooled torch. I got the cooler for free so the setup was relatively inexpensive.I have some photos if you think that they would help.

Reply:My curiousity got the best of me. I did hook up the 1/8 copper lines to my water hose with a valve to regulate the flow rate. .the return line went back into a bucket for test. I did welds set @100amps on 1/6" aluminum before attaching water cooler.I could not hold the torch head for long with my fingers because of the heat. I then connected the water cooler then repeated the weld sequence. I then could hold the torch head afterwards. So I know it really keeps things a little less hot.  I did wrap the 1/8 line around the edge of the ceramic cup afterwards to see if it would cool more. It did make it a little less hot.Coonass engineering "LOL": 5 gallon bucket of water with 1/8 copper tubing coiled 5/6 layers sitting in the water with a block of ice. Small 120V submersible pump in bucket connected in line to circulate water. Return line back to bucket. It is very crude looking but does keep things less hot.I used a water cool rig on a syncrowave 351 and I still burned up a few torches.
