Hey y'all I'm building me an aluminum toolbox to throw my clamps grinders etc in. Well I decided instead of tig welding it since I haven't done it in a couple years, I would use aluminum mig can't be too hard right ? Wrong I should have tigged it woulda been a lot better looking. But I will grind it nice and purty I can't really complain it's free diamond plate perks of taking a welding class for hours at school lol here's a pic I'll try and get some of the actual welds next day or so. Btw pulse blows with mig aluminum. Any advice would help . Thanks, Derrick
Reply:BTW pulse rules with MIG Aluminum...
Reply:move faster lol and i weld alu all day never touch pulse it slows you downHigh Octane Welding
Reply:Use 4043 wire too, it's easier to run and leaves less soot. But mig on a box like that is tough to do. I always tig that stuff and I prefer to mig.Yeah, I know, but it'll be ok!Lincoln Square wave 255Miller Vintage mig30a spoolgunThermal Dynamics Pacmaster 100xl plasmaSmith mc torchEllis 1600 band saw
Reply:I was going as fast and possible I tried to go slow the first bead.. Well to say I learned that it's not a good idea is a understatement but I got everything fixed nice after I figured out the speed. The t joints and lap joints I used to set it with I went a bit slower and it worked nicely just not for that outside joint ;/ oh and i was using 4043 wire with pulse. I forget what the pulse setting was though. I do have one question what type of flap disk would work well to bring the weld flush a t27? |
