Copper Free Tig Filler

Reply:Like Oldendum said, copper free rod rusts.  So store it in the house unless you're going to use it all very quickly.  Otherwise, it's fine stuff.  I have an old welding 'how-to' book at home where the auther sings the praises of copper free TIG rod.  For the amount of copper present, I can see it making a difference.  Certainly I've never seen a problem with any of the copper coated TIG rod I've used.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector

Reply:Myth? I'm not a metallurgist but I know copper dosent rust (corrode) like steel, even if it's sitting under an umbrella at the beach. Makes sense to me to coat with copper.. (Miss liberty is still standing after a century in the salt spray!) If I've got a nasty filler rod I just clean her up with a little sand paper and whala.. New filler rod!Just my opinion!Real welders know how to penetrate!(Equipment)Whatever can be used to beat my opponent into submission!
